Serial Publication is a service introduced by National Library of Malaysia in 1993. It was created to function as a reference excellence centre for serial publication to fulfill library users’ information requirements, specifically for Malaysiana materials. This service is located in the East Block on Level 3 of PNM building.

This collection constitutes printed/non-printed materials, electronic and online materials. Among the materials available in the Malaysiana collection are magazines, newspapers, annual reports, yearbooks, guide books, journals, indexes, abstracts, statistics, government gazettes and acts. Symbols used to identify this collection are MS, MSR, S and SR. 

 

The Serial Publication General Collection
 

The National Library of Malaysia also offers foreign serial publications. The Serial Publication General Collection includes past and current collections such as magazines, newspapers, annual reports, journals, indexes and abstracts. Other than this, newspaper articles bound in volumes are also provided for reference. This collection is housed in the Central Block on Level 4 of PNM building. Symbols used to identify this collection are S, SR, S f and S ff. 

Foreign Magazines / Journals

 

As at October 2007, there are 486 magazines and foreign journals available at the National Library of Malaysia. Among the titles offered for reference are International Journal of Project Management, Child Abuse, AIDS Care, Fire Safety Journal, Learning and Instruction, The Journal of American Association, Time, Newsweek, The Economic, National Geographic and Harvard Business Review.
